The Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar has been instituted by the Ministry of Education, Government of India to recognize, inspire and celebrate excellence in sanitation and hygiene practice in schools. The purpose of the SVP is to honor schools that have undertaken significant steps towards fulfiling the mandate of the Swachh Vidyalaya Campaign. SVP is based on IT enabled assessment of WASH infrastructure, hygienic practices and COVID-19 appropriate behaviour. Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar was launched in 2016-17 with following key objectives To recognize, inspire & celebrate excellence in sanitation and hygiene To honor schools that nave undertaken significant steps towards fulfilling the mandate of the Swach Vidyalaya Campaign & adhering to the standards of hygiene & cleanliness. To promote sustainable practices of improved water sanitation & hygiene in schools Essential elements (SVP 2021-22)


Swachh Bharat Vidyalaya has been started by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (Ministry of Education) Swachh from the year 2013. Swachh Vidyalaya Award (SVP) was launched in 2016 (Swachh Bharat - Swachh Vidyalaya) under SBSV.  -  After 2016-17 and 2017-18, SVP is being planned in 2022.  Aims to recognize the best performing schools with water, sanitation and hygiene facilities in schools to inspire other schools;  Awards were also given to the best performing districts and states for recognizing good WASH related efforts in schools and inspiring other districts and states.

In previous years, evaluation was done on the basis of five categories under 'Clean School Package', in which 1. Drinking water 2. Toilet facility 3.  Soap Washing Facility 4. Maintenance and Repair 5. Behavior Change and Capacity Building · The 2020 Kovid-19 epidemic affected schools as well as children's education, with the addition of a series of 'Kovid-19'.  Preparedness and Feedback 'Name 1. Drinking Water 4 6. CC 1.
