Government blocked 10 YouTube channels and 45 vids, indicted of spreading fake news 



New Delhi. The government has ordered the blocking of 45 vids of 10 YouTube channels for tampering with content and spreading fake news with the intention of spreading abomination among religious communities. Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur gave this information on Monday. 


Videos viewed more than 30 million times

An sanctioned statement said the vids that have been blocked have garnered a aggregate of1.30 crore views and claim that the government has taken down religious rights of certain communities. “ These channels contained content that spreads fear and confusion among communities, ” Thakur said. 

 

Allegations of spreading hatred among religious communities

According to an sanctioned statement, the banned content includes fake news and morphed vids circulated with the intention of spreading abomination among religious communities. 

 

Accused of spreading false information on matters related to national security

It said, “ Some of the vids that have been banned by the ministry were being used to spread misinformation on issues related to Agneepath scheme, Indian Armed Forces, India’s public security outfit, Kashmir. ” 


IT Rules 2021: Action under IT Rules

According to the statement, this material is considered false and sensitive from the perspective of public security and India’s friendly relations with other countries. It said that the order to ban these vids was issued on 23 September under the vittles of the Information Technology( Central Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021. 


Government has already taken action

Thakur said that earlier the government had banned 102 YouTube channels and Facebook accounts for disturbing collaborative harmony.
